Based on the media kit, we can see
that the average age to purchase this magazine is 29 year old’s. The highest
percentage of ages to purchase the magazine is 25-29 years old’s. Also, there
is more percentage of men that buy the magazine copy than women, which makes
sense based on XXLs genre being rap, which stereotypically, is listened to more
by men than women. Also, due to the genre being rap, the percentage of the
highest race that reads the magazine is African-Americans. XXL are published by
Townsquare Media started being the magazines publisher in 2014. The company is
based in the U.S with over 310 radio stations in 66 markets. They also have
the reputation of being the third largest am/fm company in Connecticut.
Good work Iptihal, you have some very useful detail to both your case studies and have included media kit analysis which has clearly been useful as you link to audience and genre well throughout your analysis. The Vibe analysis is a little more detailed. Both magazines have two contents pages, it would be useful to look at both, especially for XXL with A side and B side.. Also XXL DPS analysis is fine, but a little vague on language and style and also be aware that the entire feature is more than one DPS - there would be several spreads. (Go back and look!) FInally consider the link between images and coverlines/text and indeed images and text on contents and DPS.
ReplyDeleteOverall good work though, well done.
